Central Library

The Bharati Vidyapeeth University Engineering College library came in to existence with the establishment of the Engineering College in 1983.

Library:

The library of the institute has played a critical role in the teaching and research. It is a five-storied building with Stacking Room, Computer Centre, Periodical Section, Language Lab, Audio Visual Room, Digital Library, Reference Section, and Reading Halls. It contents 69,170 books, national and international journals and 64, 204 e-journals. Digital library of institute is one of the richest sources of knowledge for students and faculty members. The library resources are continuously upgraded and expanded catering to the academic and research needs of students, researchers, and faculty members.

Infrastructure
Library has 2500 square meters of pleasant environment comprising Stacking Room, Computer Centre, Periodical Section, Language Lab, Audio Visual Room, Digital Library, Reference Section, Reading Halls, and Centre for professional excellence.

Use of ICT in Library: Library has adopted RFID based management system. This allows library to speed up library services and streamline time consuming operations such as check in – check out, sorting, stock management and inventory. The system has following facilities:

  •  Basic infrastructure

Every book is pasted with RFID tags. Tag is mapped to book id and its attributes in the database.

  • Staff Station

Purpose: Patron identification, automated issue & return of books     Benefits: Reduces patron queuing, improves productivity

  • Gate Security System

Purpose: Security of books
Benefits: Any unauthorized movement of books from the library is tracked and alarm raised. Reduces theft and shrinkage

  • RFID Handheld Reader

Purpose: Stock taking and location management
Benefits: Simplifies stock taking of books. Also helps in sorting and identification of a given book.

  • Self-Check in/out Kiosk

Purpose: Self Check in/out
Benefits: Patron can get book issued/return without the need for library staff. Touchscreen will also help in book search and availability.

  • Book Drop Box

Purpose: Remote & automated book return system
Benefits: Automated & 24×7 system of book return

Library Rules

General Rules:

  1. All library users must sign in the library register.
  2. User should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb other readers in the library. Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  3. While entering the library, user should leave his/her personal belongings such as bags, personal books etc. at the counter reserved for this purpose.
  4. The Librarian may suspend library service of a student member for one month, if he/she misbehaves with the library staff.
  5. User of the library should not deface, mark, cut or damage the reading materials in any way. Persons doing so are liable to be fined heavily, apart from being asked to pay the cost of the damage.

Circulation Rules:

  1. Books may be borrowed only against the library card issued to an individual.
  2. Two library books will be issued to each UG/PG student.
  3. Five library books will be issued to each Full time Research scholars/Faculty members.
  4. For students, books can be issued for a limited period 15 days, failing which an overdue charge Rs. 1 per book per day must be paid.
  5. For Full time Research scholars/Faculty members, books can be issued for a period of one semester, failing which an overdue charge Rs. 2 per book per day must be paid.
  6. No books in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced by the borrower.

Sunday and Holidays 10.00 am to 8.00 pm.

For Book issue-return, Digital Library, and Computer Centre:
